RIO LINDA, CA (MPG) - Rio Linda residents of all ages can find healthy fun on Thursdays all summer. The Rio Linda Farmers’ Market & Peddlers’ Fair is back through Sept. 26, happening every Thursday at Depot Park (6730 Front St., Rio Linda).

Having had its first week on May 2, the market is here to stay. While the market starts at 4 p.m. through August, it will start at 5 p.m. in September to combat the heat.

The Rio Linda Farmers’ Market & Peddlers’ Fair is a very successful ultra-local event, now in its 12th year of business.

All of the vendors are local sellers and there are “no big farmers”, according to Charlea Moore, the founder and market manager. The local vendors are usually selling fresh produce, both organic and nonorganic, and handmade items such as jewelry.

In addition to farmers’ market vendors, there will be food trucks every week featuring snow cones and soft serve ice cream. There are also volunteers who play live music for everyone to enjoy.

Moore promises a good time.

“People should come because it’s just very enjoyable,” Moore said. “It’s in a shady area, there’s good people, everyone has a good time and it’s a great way to come for two hours or 30 minutes and have fun.”
